In Konaseema district of Andhra Pradesh, as a pilot project, 8 welfare hostels are conducting Vipassana yoga practice programs 10 minutes before the start of school and 10 minutes before the end of school to instill interest in studies and discipline among students, District Collector Mahesh Kumar revealed.
On Saturday, Samanasa Mahatma Jyotirao Phule of the local mandal visited Andhra Pradesh BC Welfare Boys Residential School and interacted with the students in the classroom and inquired about the interest they are getting in the practice of Vipassana yoga.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that if Vipassana meditation teaching is conducted in 8 ashram schools in the district for three months and gives good results, then the yoga practice process will be conducted in all the schools in a phased manner.
Vipassana yoga practice is one of the oldest meditation methods in India. It is a method of self-research discovered by Gautama Buddha thousands of years ago. This method helps in self-research by directly experiencing the deep connection between the mind and the body and
identifies the root causes of the problems that arise in our lives and helps in eliminating them. In the Vipassana meditation method, the practitioners pay full attention to their breathing. The first step is to concentrate the mind by observing the breath, and then, they observe the various subtle sensations that occur in the body impartially.
Stress, anxiety and anger in the mind are reduced and peace increases, he said. He said that it gives a deep understanding of the way we function and the sources of our thoughts and their impact on our behavior. He said that with continuous practice, concentration and attention will improve significantly.
The students expressed their views that due to this Vipassana Yoga practice, interest in education and regular training is gradually improving among the students and is benefiting them to some extent.
