Anand Rao, who rose from a simple farmer’s family to become a distinguished pioneering industrialist and turned towards village development and public welfare, earning the title of “Krishi Pandit”, is highly commendable.

The centenary celebrations of prominent industrialist and philanthropist Krishi Pandit Gammani Anand Rao were held with great pomp and show at Kapileswaram village in Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district on Saturday.
A statue of the late Anand Rao was unveiled at the village library and floral tributes were paid to his memory. This was followed by public welfare programmes like the inauguration of a computer laboratory at Sri Sarvaraya ZP High School, the launch of advanced diagnostic equipment like 2D ECHO machine and thyroid testing equipment at the community hospital, dedication of a Hindu crematorium and awarding of scholarships to meritorious students.
Speaking at the gathering, the State Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao described Anand Rao as “a man who rose from a simple farmer’s family to become a pioneering industrialist of rare distinction.” He recalled that despite amassing considerable wealth, Anand Rao was deeply rooted in simplicity and channeled his resources towards village development and public welfare, earning him the title of Krishi Pandit.
“Through the establishment of a small steel plant and power units, Anand Rao provided livelihood to thousands of people. During the pandemic, he provided assistance worth ₹70 lakh in the form of oxygen cylinders and medical facilities. He personally funded roads, market yard, library and many other civic amenities. His life is a testament to service not through words but through actions,” Srinivasa Rao said.
He stated that the community is proud of the Anand Rao family’s continuous commitment to carrying forward its legacy of social service. “The memories of such great people will continue to inspire generations,” he said.
Among those present were Amallapuram MP G.M.C. Harish Madhur Balayogi, local MLA Vegulla Jogeswara Rao, GSL Medical College and General Hospital Chairman Dr. Ganni Bhaskar Rao, Gammani’s family members, villagers and fans in large numbers.
