Minister Kandula Durgesh said that tourism development in the state is progressing rapidly with the cooperation of the central and state governments.
In an intimate meeting with media representatives at Rajahmundry on Sunday, Minister Kandula Durgesh explained the steps taken by the coalition government for the development of tourism in the state in the past 15 months and the progress of the work.
Minister Durgesh said that MoUs have been signed for investments of Rs. 10,644 crore in the past 15 months of the coalition government. He said that investor conferences were organized in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada and Tirupati and the opportunities for tourism development were explained. Minister Durgesh revealed that 88 projects with an investment of Rs. 698 crore have already been started.
He said that this will create employment for 3554 people in the tourism and hospitality sector. He said that the government has decided to pave the way for economic development, employment generation and cultural exchange through the tourism sector. Similarly, it has set a target of attracting Rs. 25,000 crore in tourism investments in five years.
He said that along with temple tourism, eco, wellness, adventure, cruise, river, heritage, religious and other tourism processes are being developed. He said that the coalition government’s intention is to make AP a major tourism hub in the world by 2047. Minister Durgesh explained that their idea is to make Andhra Pradesh one of the top 10 states with the highest number of foreign tourists coming to India.
Similarly, with the initiative of CM Chandrababu Naidu, new policies such as the release of the new tourism policy -2024-29, land allocation policy, employment generation incentives policy, and adventure tourism programs have been released.
Minister Durgesh said that in many parts of the state, home stays have been set up in old Mandua lodges and ancient structures without losing their natural beauty and have started providing state-of-the-art facilities.
He said that steps are being taken to ensure that tourists coming from other countries stay longer in AP tourist areas.
He said that tent cities will be set up in 25 famous places in the state. He said that the topic of caravan tourism is part of the new policy. He said that it was included in the policy with the ideas of CM Chandrababu Naidu.
He said that caravan tourism has been developed abroad. He said that Rs. 94.44 crores have been sanctioned for Akhanda Godavari through Shaski and Rs. 77.91 crores for Gandikota tourism project, which will be developed on the lines of Grand Canyon.
Minister Durgesh revealed that the central government has sanctioned Rs. 94.44 crores for Akhanda Godavari project through Shaski scheme. Thus, the 127-year-old Havelock Bridge in Rajahmundry will be reconstructed, and Pushkara Ghat will be developed as a spiritual destination and made a dynamic tourist destination.
He said that the inclusion of Tirumala Hills in the UNESCO list is commendable. He said that the efforts of the tourism department officials behind this are commendable. He said that the first step has been taken to recognize it as a natural heritage. He said that steps are being taken to get this recognition for Ahobilam.He added.
