State TDP President and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao has welcomed the key decision taken by the state government to get the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant out of the financial crisis.
As per the orders of the Heavy Industries Department, converting ₹2,400 crore of electricity dues into shares is a historic decision to provide relief to the plant. Palla said that this is a reward for the vision of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the efforts of the coalition government.
The central and state governments are working together to revive Visakhapatnam Steel. ₹9,500 crore has already been deposited in the ₹11,500 crore package. Now, by converting ₹2,400 crore of dues into share capital, the plant will be financially stable. He explained that this is a historic step in the steel industry.
Palla clarified that Jagan Reddy’s gang and some unions are creating misconceptions about the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.
He said that the statement “without captive mines, the plant cannot run” is completely false, and that mines with FE content less than 40% are not suitable for production. To break even, 60% production should be done, which means 15,000 metric tons per day are required. He explained that production is currently increasing with the third blast furnace coming into use.
He said that out of the ₹11,500 crore package given by the Center, ₹9,500 crore has already been deposited in the RINL account, and the workers are determined to work hard and bring the plant back to its former glory.

He assured that the coalition government would support the development of the steel plant in every way. In 1998, the Telugu Desam Party worked to ensure that the steel plant was not privatized. He also informed that the plant would not be privatized in 2025.
He said that in the past there were a thousand contracts, and to reduce the financial burden on the plant, steps are being taken to have only 42 contractors for 42 departments. He said that portraying this as privatization is only false propaganda. He strongly warned that the contractors should keep this in mind and continue to employ expatriates and senior contract workers through a single window method.
Visakhapatnam as an IT hub, Anantapur is emerging as an aerospace hub, Kurnool as a drone hub, and Amaravati as the proud capital of the country. Industries, logistics, and jobs are the future of Andhra Pradesh. Palla Srinivasa Rao confidently stated that the state is moving towards a golden age in the direction shown by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
