Representatives from more than 20 states attended the conference.

The two-day conference is being held on the theme “Women-led Development for a Vikshith Bharat”, with special focus on “Gender Responsive Budgeting” and “Empowering Women to Meet the Challenges of Emerging Technologies”.

The discussions will focus on strengthening women’s leadership, increasing their participation in governance, ensuring inclusive policies and taking forward the vision of an India where women are not only beneficiaries but also key architects of national development.

Shri Birla said that the first-ever National Committees Meeting on Women’s Empowerment is a milestone in India’s democratic journey. He said that such meetings play a vital role in the exchange of ideas and experiences and pave the way for inclusive policy making. It brought together legislators, policymakers and women leaders from across the country to collectively formulate strategies for women’s leadership, equality and inclusion in every sphere of life.

Shri Birla highlighted that the Tirupati meeting sends a clear and powerful message that women’s empowerment and child welfare are not peripheral issues but are the foundation of national progress. He stressed the need to ensure women’s participation from Panchayats to Parliament, and that increasing the presence of women in policy-making and law-making bodies will help address the challenges and obstacles that women have historically faced.
