The Governor of Andhra Pradesh and President of Indian Red Cross Society, AP State Branch participated in the Red Cross Annual General Meeting held at Tummalapalli Kshetraiah Kalakshetra on Wednesday. In Vijayawada.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Shri Abdul Nazeer said that he highly appreciated the efforts of the State Branch and all the District Branches of Red Cross in mobilizing resources and undertaking various activities in the services provided by Red Cross volunteers in providing assistance to the victims in blood donation, first aid training, disaster management and special health camps, especially during the recent floods of Godavari and Krishna rivers.
The Governor said that programs like Thalassemia Blood Transfusion Centers should be expanded along with Red Cross Blood Banks and reach out to the poor children suffering from Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Anemia across the State in a phased manner.
Governor Shri Abdul Nazeer, Managing Director of AP Genco Shri K.V.N. Chakradhar, District Collectors of NTR District Dr. G. Girisha, District Collector of Srikakulam Shri Swapnil Dinakar Pundkar and other awardees were felicitated. They mobilized resources for AP Red Cross and District Branches through membership and regular donations. They received awards at the event for their best performance in various parameters and wished that they continue to be a role model for other District Branches to emulate.
