Dr. B.R. Ambedkar A team of officials has started a special tour to study the areas, technology, supply and market linkages required for the establishment of coconut-based value-added industries in Konaseema district. Andhra Pradesh.

The team is headed by District Industries Centre General Manager T. Prasad.
The team includes PD-DRDA Jayachandra Gandhi, District Horticulture Officer B.V. Ramana, APIIC Zonal Manager Ramana Reddy, LDM Verma and others.

From May 19 to 23, the officials who will study in the 3 states first visited the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysore. Research on value-added products of horticultural crops like coconut and banana, packaging, development of export-friendly products etc. will be examined.

The Central Horticultural Crops Research Institute (CPCRI), Kerala will visit Kasaragod and hold comprehensive discussions with scientists on new varieties, disease-resistant coconut varieties, and varieties suitable for the coastal climate.

The Coconut Development Board, Coir Board and Technical Institutes in Cochin will be visited. During this visit, details will be collected on coconut fiber processing, making coconut water into a branded product, and missionary work required for coir industries.

Private coconut industries around Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu will be inspected and a study will be conducted on their management, marketing models, profitability to farmers etc. The report will be submitted to the District Collector.
