The Supreme Court has once again clarified that children who do not take care of their elderly parents do not have the right to enjoy their property.
It has ruled that children who behave in such a way can be thrown out. It has commented that the Parents’ Care and Maintenance Act brought by the government in 2007 will stand by parents who are neglected by their children.
This verdict was issued when a 80-year-old couple from Maharashtra approached the Supreme Court alleging that their son was not taking care of them.
It has been said that the tribunals set up under the Parents’ Care and Maintenance Act will conduct a speedy investigation into the cases of children who do not take care of their parents.

The bench clarified that in such disputes, the tribunals will have the power to order that the ownership rights of the property transferred by the parents to their children be returned to the victims.
