Andhra Pradesh Secretariat Security Officer Mallikarjuna Rao was awarded the Indian Police Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) in recognition of 36 years of disciplined service.

The Government of India has announced the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal (Indian Police Medal) for Polavarapu Venkata Sesha Naga Mallikarjuna Rao (Assistant Commandant, APSPF), who is currently working as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) at the Andhra Pradesh State Secretariat, on the occasion of Republic Day in January 2026.
Mallikarjuna Rao, currently serving as the CSO, is a native of Gudlavalleru in Krishna district. He completed his schooling in Gudivada and his higher education in Vijayawada. In 1989, he underwent training in ITBP (Paramilitary) in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, and subsequently served in various ITBP units in Delhi, Haryana, and Chandigarh.
Later, in September 1993, he joined the Andhra Pradesh Special Protection Force (APSPF) on permanent deputation from the ITBP.
Mallikarjuna Rao has served in various units of the APSPF since 1993, including the DG SPF Headquarters Hyderabad, IDPL, AP High Court, KTTP Palvancha, RTPP Kalamula, TTD Tirumala, ONGC Rajahmundry, Kadapa, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada Airports, and GPP Vijayawada. Similarly, he served as the Drawing and Disbursing Officer and Administrative Officer at the Vijayawada Zone Commandant’s office. Currently, he is serving as the Chief Security Officer at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat. Furthermore, in recognition of his services since 1989 in the ITBP and AP SPF, he has received 27 cash rewards, 17 good service entries, 8 commendations, 4 appreciations, and AP Police Medals, including the 2006 AP Police Seva Medal and the 2013 AP Uttama Seva Medal.
In recognition of his 36 years of service in the ITBP and AP SPF, during which he received numerous rewards, awards, and medals, the Government of India has announced the prestigious Meritorious Service Medal (Indian Police Medal) for Assistant Commandant Mallikarjuna Rao, the current Chief Security Officer of the Secretariat, on the occasion of Republic Day in January 2026.

The Director General, Inspector General, Commandants, and officers and staff of the AP Special Protection Force Secretariat expressed their joy and congratulated Mallikarjuna Rao on receiving the Indian Police Medal.
