THE FAMILY, EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS AND SOCIETY MUST COLLECTIVELY TAKE RESPONSIBILITY TO CURB CRIMES AGAINST GIRLS —- ELURU DISTRICT CHILD PROTECTION OFFICER DR. SURYA CHAKRAVENI.
Eluru District Child Protection Officer Dr. Surya Chakraveni stated that the family, educational institutions, and society must collectively take responsibility to curb crimes against girls. She suggested that everyone needs to cooperate in the proper implementation of laws related to the protection of children’s rights.
A 2-K run program was organized today at the Eluru Indoor Stadium under the auspices of Ramachandra Engineering College. In the same program, District Child Protection Officer Dr. Surya Chakraveni, along with Women’s Police Station DSP U. Ravichandra and Women’s SI Nagamani, conducted an awareness program called “Save Girl”.
The officials participating in this program provided extensive awareness on the laws being implemented by the government regarding the safety of girls and the protection of women. They specifically explained women’s laws, the POCSO Act, the measures to be taken to prevent atrocities against girls, and the laws specifically designed for the protection of girls and their implementation.
Women’s Police Station DSP U. Ravichandra said that women and girls should not be afraid to report the harassment they face to the police immediately. He stated that the law is completely on the side of the victimized women and girls. He advised them to use helpline numbers like 112 and 181 in emergency situations. Woman Sub-Inspector Nagamani provided a clear explanation of the offenses, punishments, complaint procedures, and protective measures available to victims under the POCSO Act.
The organizers stated that the main objective of this “Save Girl” program is to increase awareness of the laws among female students and young people, and to prevent atrocities against girls.
