Amravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to develop the state as an integrated strategic materials hub.
He suggested that the valuable minerals like beach sand minerals available in the state should be utilized effectively along with providing value addition.
In a review meeting of the Mining Department held at the Secretariat today, the Chief Minister discussed the proposed Andhra Pradesh Titanium and Strategic Materials Mission (AP-TSMM) with the officials.
He stated that the mission will attract large-scale investments and create thousands of employment opportunities, which will significantly boost the industrial development of the state.
He said that the mission aims to attract investments of Rs. 50,000 crore and create 40,000 jobs in the next 10 years. He also directed the officials to study the policies being followed by the Central Government and other states regarding rare earth minerals as well as the value addition opportunities.
The officials informed the Chief Minister that the beach sand minerals available in the coastal areas of the state are the most valuable in the country. They explained that the products obtained from beach sand minerals are required by several key industries. To efficiently utilize the minerals available in the state, the officials proposed to set up three major processing parks. These include
Titanium Park in Srikakulam – with a production target of 1.5 million tonnes per annum, Rare Earth Corridor in Anakapalle – with a production target of 25,000 tonnes per annum and Integrated Titanium and Rare Earth Corridor in Machilipatnam.

Minister Kollu Ravindra, Principal Secretary, Mining and Excise Mukesh Kumar Meena and other officials were present.
