Amaravati: A pregnant woman from Errampeta village in Chintoor Mandal, in Andhra Pradesh.
approximately six months into her pregnancy, visited the Community Health Centre (CHC) three days ago for a routine checkup. Dr. Ramana Rao, the doctor on duty at the hospital, examined her and identified severe developmental abnormalities in the fetus.
According to the doctors, this condition arises when the fetal brain—and the skull bones that are supposed to form around it—fail to develop properly.
Doctors stated that in such cases, there is a high probability that the infant will lose its life immediately after birth.
This case became extremely critical due to the severe congenital defects present in the fetus. Given the major abnormalities—including the improper development of skull bones, exposure of brain tissue, a suspected case of Meningomyelocele, and the mother’s critical health condition which posed a life-threatening risk

—the CHC medical team responded immediately. They performed an emergency Lower Segment Cesarean Section (LSCS) surgery, thereby saving the mother’s life. The hospital management commended the services of the doctors, nursing staff, and support staff who effectively managed this rare and challenging case.
