The Cyclone ‘Montha’ formed in the Bay of Bengal has moved closer to the Andhra Pradesh coast. In this context, officials have issued the highest warning signal number 10 at Kakinada port.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is fully prepared for relief operations in the cyclone-affected areas. A total of 25 teams have been deployed to the states of AP, Telangana, Odisha and Tamil Nadu.
NDRF Inspector General Narender Singh Bundela told the media today that his forces are ready to face the cyclone.
The Cyclone Warning Centre in Visakhapatnam has issued warnings to the coastal areas as the intensity of the cyclone in the Bay of Bengal increases. While signal number 10 has been hoisted in Kakinada, danger warnings number 9 are being maintained in Visakhapatnam, Gangavaram, Kalingapatnam and Bhimunipatnam ports.
The government there has also been alerted with expectations that the impact of this cyclone may also affect the neighboring state of Tamil Nadu.
