NO TO CHINESE MANJA — DON’T PLAY WITH LIVES DURING SANKRANTHI CELEBRATIONS — VANAPARTHY DISTRICT SP SUNITHA REDDY, IPS.,

Vanaparthy District SP Sunitha Reddy, IPS, stated in a press release that Chinese manja has been completely banned within the district limits. She warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who sells, uses, or causes harm to others with Chinese manja, in violation of the ban imposed by the state government.

The SP said that special inspections will be conducted across the district under the supervision of local police, keeping in mind the upcoming Sankranthi festival. She stated that Chinese manja, made of nylon and synthetic threads, causes serious harm to the environment and poses a life-threatening risk to people, motorists, and birds. She mentioned that in the past, many accidents have occurred while flying kites with Chinese manja. SP Sunitha Reddy added that there have been instances where even the people flying the kites were seriously injured. She explained that it is for these reasons that a complete ban has been imposed on Chinese manja. She stated that cases will be registered under the Environment Protection Act – 1986 against those involved in the sale and use of Chinese manja. She revealed that strict measures have been taken to ensure that no sales of Chinese manja take place anywhere in the district.

The District SP appealed to the public to refrain from using Chinese manja and to fly kites using ordinary threads that do not cause harm to anyone. She advised that those flying kites must do so in safe places such as open grounds, keeping a safe distance from electricity poles. She also urged those flying kites from rooftops to exercise extreme caution and follow appropriate safety measures.

District SP Sunitha Reddy requested the public to immediately inform Dial-100 if they notice anyone selling or using Chinese manja (kite string).
