(Udaipur) Minister Kandula Durgesh has appealed to Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to provide more central support to make AP the top tourist destination in the country and to develop Tirupati and Visakhapatnam in AP as world tourist destinations as per the policies of the central government.

On October 14 and 15, Minister Kandula Durgesh and Tourism MD Amrapali Kata participated in a meeting with tourism ministers of all states and union territories chaired by Union Tourism and Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat at the Udaipur Marriott Hotel in Rajasthan.

On this occasion, he explained the steps taken for the development of Andhra Pradesh tourism in the last 15 months. He thanked the central government for its cooperation.  As part of the National Mission, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati are being proposed as key destinations on behalf of Andhra Pradesh, and these areas will reflect the diversity, preparedness and international standards of their state.

Minister Kandula Durgesh clarified that the Union Budget 2025-26 envisages developing Visakhapatnam as a coastal and marine destination and Tirupati as a spiritual and cultural destination.
Minister Kandula Durgesh announced that the AP government is fully committed to achieving the goals of the National Mission.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Kandula Durgesh said that he is proud to represent the state of Andhra Pradesh in this historic meeting organized to discuss the National Mission aimed at developing 50 globally competitive tourist destinations in India. He expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the Union Ministry of Tourism for organizing this program.

Minister Kandula Durgesh explained that after the NDA government came to power in AP, a new tourism policy for 2024-29 was announced and a comprehensive, investment-oriented policy was adopted. In the last 15 months, about Rs. 12,000 crore of tourism investments have been attracted to AP, along with 21 hotel and resort projects with world-renowned brands like Taj, ITC, Oberoi, Hilton, Lemon Tree. More than 18,000 jobs have been created through these projects with an investment of Rs. 4,500 crore.

He also revealed that 10,000 homestays are being set up in rural and tribal tourism circuits. He said that under the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu, the development of tourist destinations is being integrated through a P4 (Public, Private, People’s Partnership) model unique to AP.

Minister Kandula Durgesh has revealed that the AP government has decided to develop Visakhapatnam as India’s first Oceanarium and Marine Experience Park.

Minister Kandula Durgesh said that they are planning to establish a “Spiritual Civilization Museum & Mythological Experience Park” in Tirupati to expand the spirituality of the holy hills.

Minister Kandula Durgesh said that Andhra Pradesh will not only be a leading tourist state in India, but also one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Asia by 2030. He revealed that the AP tourism sector will make remarkable progress under the leadership of Central cooperation, CM Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan.

Tourism MD Amrapali Kata said that as part of the formulation of the national mission, they will focus on the development of AP’s tourist destination.  She said that they expect connectivity, amenities, signage, sanitation, electric vehicle transportation and digital visitor systems to be improved till the final milestone.
