The Disha Committee meeting will help the government to know the status of various schemes being implemented by the central government, correct the shortcomings in the implementation and send proposals to the government on them. Rajahmundry BJP MP Daggubati Purandeshwari said that public representatives have also made participants in the program for the implementation of the respective schemes at the field level.
She chaired the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (Disha) meeting held at the Municipal Corporation office in Rajamhandravaram last evening.
As part of this, she said that the central government will be requested to increase the working days of the Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, increase the estimated cost of construction of drains from one lakh rupees to ten lakhs, and increase the width of roads.
She said that due to the lack of elections to local bodies, the 15th Finance Commission funds are not being received and the state will be requested to exempt the state from this provision in the Amrut scheme.
She said that it has been decided to conduct an inquiry into the improper implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission during the previous government.
Certification should be given to crops grown through organic farming, and to get better prices for these, the market yards in the district should be linked with Eenam. The Coconut Board office in Vijayawada should be shifted to Rajahmundry or Amalapuram.
They said that a campaign should be organized on women’s health issues like cervical cancer and caesarean sections. They said that each public representative and officer should adopt a T. B. patient for the control of tuberculosis.
In this meeting, MLC Somu Veerraju, MLAs Nallamilli Ramakrishna Reddy, Bathula Balaramakrishna, District Collector P Prashanthi and officials held a review with them.
