AMARAVATI:  Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has stressed the need to revamp the college curriculum. Stating that there is a need to strengthen the college education system, he said that it should be changed to suit the current needs. Along with traditional courses, new demand-based courses and updated curricula should be introduced.

The Chief Minister, who reviewed the performance of various departments at the Secretariat today, said that university rankings should improve. Andhra University in Visakhapatnam and other universities should work towards better rankings. The Higher Education Council should become more proactive and the education department should take the lead.

There should be no complaints about the mid-day meal scheme. The Sports Authority should increase its activities and organize events like 5K runs to create health awareness among the youth.

The Chief Minister said that the government has taken up several priority programmes and has directed the officials to implement them with a clear plan and effectively. He stressed that the schemes should reach the people effectively to win their trust.

When it comes to road accidents, the Chief Minister opined that not only strict implementation but also preventive measures should be taken and at the same time awareness should be created among the people. Awareness on helmet usage and traffic rules should be strengthened.

Speaking about heavy rains and lightning-related deaths, the Chief Minister said that warnings should not be limited to mobile messages only, field staff should also be alerted and people in specific tower areas should be informed about potential lightning hazards through network-based warnings.

When it comes to housing, he said that the housing department should work at full speed. In addition to TIDCO houses, the construction of 5 lakh more houses should be completed and handed over to the beneficiaries without delay.

This massive housing programme being implemented is unprecedented, and the beneficiaries are expressing satisfaction. Along with house construction, the distribution of house plots should also be expedited. Surveys suggest that nearly 2 lakh people are waiting for house sites. Since the government is providing sand to the people free of cost, no additional charges should be levied at the reaches or stockyards on the pretext of transportation or any other reason. Strict monitoring should be ensured.

After the review, the Chief Minister launched the ‘Aware 2.0’ mobile application developed by RTGS. The meeting was attended by officials from various departments.
