AMARAVATI: Rajahmundry BJP MP Daggubati Purandeswari stated that Ugadi is a festival deeply intertwined with nature. She remarked that time flows like a stream, and the Ugadi Panchangam (almanac) provides insights into the nature of both the past and the upcoming times.
The Ugadi Awards Ceremony for the Sri Parabhava Nama Samvatsaram (Year of Parabhava) was celebrated with great grandeur in Rajahmundry on Thursday. During this event, poets, scholars, and artists were felicitated.
She explained that while many people feel apprehensive about the Parabhava Nama Samvatsaram due to its literal connotation of “defeat,” its deeper, underlying significance is that it represents a defeat for vices and evil practices, and a victory for goodness.
MP Purandeswari noted that the Panchangam is an integral part of our lifestyle; by listening to the Panchanga Sravanam (almanac recitation)—which outlines the movements of the zodiac signs—we can gain an understanding of how our own journey through the year is likely to unfold, thereby enabling us to navigate our lives accordingly.
Earlier in the program, a troupe of students led by Pasumarthi Srinivasa Sarma, Principal of the Vijayashankara Government School of Music and Dance, enthralled the audience with a captivating dance performance.
Following the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, Pullela Satyanarayana performed the Panchanga Sravanam. MP Purandeswari, MLC Somu Veerraju, MLAs Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary, Nallamilli Ramakrishna Reddy, and Maddipati Venkataraju, TDP State General Secretary Ganni Krishna, and RUDA Chairman Boddu Venkata Ramana Chowdary felicitated several individuals who have demonstrated expertise in various professions.

Subsequently, a women’s group accorded a grand felicitation to MP Purandeswari.
A large number of local leaders, public representatives, women, alliance leaders, and others participated in the event.
