Minister Durgesh revealed that MoUs have been signed with 103 organizations and tourism investments of Rs. 10,644 crore have been achieved in 15 months.

State Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh revealed that the state government is making big plans for the development of sea-based tourism.

Speaking in the Legislative Assembly on Saturday, Minister Durgesh said that tourism development was zero during the previous government’s tenure and criticized that the tourism sector had been ruined due to their ill-considered decisions. He explained in detail the steps taken for the development of tourism in the state during the 15 months of the coalition government.

He said that the AP Tourism Department has initiated new innovations under the leadership of CM Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan. Minister Durgesh mentioned in the assembly about the plans and tourism projects prepared for comprehensive tourism development with the good intention of developing all areas in the state.

Minister Kandula Durgesh said that 50 percent of the words spoken about tourism development in the previous legislative sessions have already been put into action.

Taking the successful Goa model as inspiration, Minister Durgesh gave details of the steps being taken to promote and develop marine-based tourism in Chirala, the plans to make historical sites such as Motupalli and the ancient Veerabhadra Swamy temple a major tourist destination, the plans to improve road connectivity and infrastructure in beaches near Chirala, and the steps being taken to attract tourists from outside the state. Minister Durgesh was responding to a question asked by Chirala MLA Madduluri Malakondaiah in the Legislative Assembly.

In response to a question asked by members on the provision of infrastructure for tourists, he assured that a meeting would be held at the district level under the leadership of the Collector and action would be taken, thereby taking steps to provide more funds for infrastructure.

On this occasion, Speaker Ayyannapatrudu suggested to Minister Durgesh to form a committee to study Goa tourism and take steps to implement it in AP and increase tourism revenue, to which Minister Durgesh responded and promised to implement it.

Today we are celebrating World Tourism Day. The government has prepared a comprehensive plan to develop marine-based tourism in Chirala. As part of this, we have organized activities to provide resorts, water sports and other infrastructure.

The government has organized a program to develop the Veerabhadra Swamy Temple in Chirala as a tourist center.

We have prepared an action plan to set up a museum in the Kodandarama Swamy Temple. We have started a program to move the Panchaloha idols from the Hyderabad Museum and ,Similarly, we are making efforts to bring back the Addanki inscription from Chennai  to the Vijayawada Museum.

Minister Kandula Durgesh stated that overall funds will be brought through the central government and tourism projects will be undertaken in the state under the PPP model.
