AMARAVATI: TDP President Palla Srinivasa Rao stated that the government is undertaking stringent measures to eradicate the chronic pollution issues plaguing Gajuwaka.
He affirmed that his government’s clear objective is to transform this region into a dumping yard-free zone through scientific and sustainable waste management methods, thereby shaping Gajuwaka into a pollution-free locality.
Today, within the limits of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC), he—alongside State Minister for Municipal Administration Ponguleti Narayana and local leaders—dedicated the ‘Alluri Sitarama Raju Park,’ developed at a cost of ₹10 crores, to the visakha people.
Srinivasa Rao remarked that, thanks to the initiatives taken by Minister P. Narayana within the municipal administration system across Andhra Pradesh, the pace of urban development statewide—particularly regarding drinking water supply, sewage infrastructure, and civic amenities—has significantly accelerated.
He added that these efforts would substantially bolster the development of the Gajuwaka constituency and enhance the living standards of its residents. He explained that compactors are being installed at various locations across the city, each capable of processing approximately 33 tons of waste, thereby enhancing efficiency in waste collection and transportation.
Additionally, officials are establishing waste transfer stations to ensure that waste is promptly removed rather than being allowed to accumulate for extended periods.
Mr. Palla stated that the coalition government is pursuing an ambitious agenda, under the “Mission World” framework, to transform Andhra Pradesh into a development-oriented state. Mr. Srinivas noted that while the government is implementing projects worth ₹15,000 crore to strengthen drinking water infrastructure across the state, it is allocating ₹5,000 crore for drainage development.
For the 2026-27 financial year, the government has allocated ₹4,000 crore to accelerate projects related to drinking water supply, sewage systems, and street lighting within municipalities.
He affirmed that the coalition government is committed to providing every household with safe drinking water, robust sewage systems, improved roads, and enhanced street lighting.
Mr. Srinivas Rao added that discussions with the Central Government regarding the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail project are ongoing, and it is anticipated that this initiative will significantly strengthen the city’s urban transportation network.
