The current central government is attempting to bring back the system of slavery by severely injustice to the workers, undermining the labor laws and rights that workers fought for and achieved during the British era under the leadership of AITUC.  It has introduced four labor codes to appease big corporate entities.

The struggle will not stop until these codes are repealed. As part of this, AP Municipal Workers Union Honorary President and Joint District AITUC Vice President Tatipaka Madhu called for making the nationwide general strike called by central trade unions on January 12th a success.

On Thursday morning, the general strike notice was handed over to the municipal authorities.

Speaking on the occasion, Tatipaka Madhu criticized that despite several strikes since Modi came to power, he remains unmoved. He expressed anguish that Modi is only concerned with the interests of big corporate entities, while the lives of millions of workers are being jeopardized.

He said that the coalition government had promised to regularize municipal contract workers before the elections, but is now remaining silent on the issue. He stated that thousands of municipal contract workers across the state are losing their jobs as soon as they turn 60, and demanded that their successors be immediately appointed to those positions.

Madhu demanded that jobs be given to the family members of workers who died prematurely while still employed. He urged all municipal workers to make the general strike on the 12th a success and requested all political parties to extend their support.

The program was attended by AP Municipal Workers Union District President Reddy Ramana, General Secretary Allam Venkateswara Rao, State Vice President Dhanala Durgamma, and official body members Bangaru Giri, Gudupu Giri, Allam Balu, Srinivas, and others.
