Three members of the same family committed suicide after failing to pay off their son’s birthday debt in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.

A father committed suicide after taking a loan of Rs 3 lakhs for his son’s birthday function and later failing to repay the loan. The incident took place in Common East Godavari district Kakinada, Unable to digest the death of her husband, the son’s mother also committed suicide by giving her son pesticide and drinking it herself. The two died today after 13 days of treatment in the hospital, the police said.
According to the information given by the police, Janapalli Gopi has a wife Akanksha (25) and son Sarvik (2) in Sarpavaram Gandhinagar, Kakinada.
He took a loan of Rs 3 lakhs for his son’s birthday function. Unable to repay, the father committed suicide on July 22. Unable to bear this, the wife gave her son a pesticide on the 31st of last month and drank it herself. Mother and child died at Kakinada GGH yesterday.
