AMARAVATI: As the upcoming Godavari Pushkaram is likely to attract more than 10 crore pilgrims, the Andhra Pradesh coalition government is preparing to organize it on the lines of the Maha Kumbh Mela this time and the government machinery is preparing to provide all kinds of infrastructure facilities for the pilgrims.
The police machinery has to plan accordingly from now on to provide special security to cope with the rush of devotees and prevent stampede.
In this regard, a meeting of 7 Guru Ministers was held under the chairmanship of Endowments and Charities Minister Anam Rama Narayana Reddy on the orders of the state Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
A long discussion was held on 5 main issues. Earlier, decisions were taken after discussing the PPTs prepared by the respective district collectors and departments, the suggestions and suggestions of the ministers, etc. on the arrangements for the Godavari Pushkaras. The group of ministers decided to organize the Godavari Pushkaras on the lines of the Maha Kumbh Mela. It is estimated that more than 10 crore devotees will come to the Pushkaras this time.
It was decided to organize the Godavari Pushkaras to be held from June 26 to July 7, 2027, in 6 districts on a grand scale. It was decided to set up 373 bathing ghats covering an area of 4516 meters. It was decided to set up 102 bathing ghats in East Godavari, 40 in West Godavari, 175 in Konaseema, 36 in Eluru, 5 in Kakinada, and 11 in Polavaram district, for a total of 369 bathing ghats.
The first Godavari Pushkara bathing ghat in AP was Gundala in Polavaram district and the last one was Antarvedi and Balusuthippa in Konaseema district, Govalanka Ghat in Kakinada district, and Narsapuram Ghat in West Godavari, the ministers said.
It is estimated that 2.25 crore people will come on the day of the holy bath. For the convenience of the devotees, it has been decided that there should be a proper plan in terms of Pinda Pradanam Ghats, sanitation process, roads, water, etc. It has been decided to set up tent cities and home stays so that the devotees who come to Pushkaras can stay there for two to three days. It has been decided to give priority to the safety of the devotees.
He said that out of the six districts where the Godavari Pushkaram is being organized, 9.60 crore people are likely to come in just 3 districts. He instructed the officials to make appropriate arrangements for that. He also said that it is expected that more devotees will come to Rajahmundry and Kovvur ghats. He expressed the opinion that it would be better if Rajahmundry was the center for the next Pushkaram review.
Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy said that a large number of devotees who come to the Pushkaram will have darshan of the deity, which is why minor repairs will be done in 391 temples and 43 temples will be renovated.
He said that the Pushkaram will be organized without any shortcomings by paying special attention to the facilities and amenities provided to women devotees.
He suggested that AI technology should be used to control the crowd of devotees and coordination with RTGS should be made. He said that tent cities will be set up in Bridge Lanka and Pichukalanka near Rajahmundry.
The Minister said that the Godavari Pushkara Curtain Raiser Program will be organized on a large scale in Rajahmundry in June. Senior officials of various departments participated in this meeting, while the collectors of the 6 districts where the Pushkaras are held participated virtually.

The Ministers Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, Ponguru Narayana, Nimmala Ramanaidu, Kandula Durgesh, BC Janardhan Reddy, Satyakumar Yadav, Gottipati Ravi Kumar, and Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy will be the members of the Sub-Committee of Ministers for Pushkara arrangements.
