(Rajamahendravaram) Diseases like pneumonia and leprosy are completely preventable. We can build a healthy society only by creating awareness among the people and consulting doctors on time. Every family should be careful and utilize the medical services provided by the government, said Collector Kirti Chekuri.East Godavari district.

This program launched by the central government will continue to be an awareness campaign across the district from November 12 to February 28, she said.

The wall copies of the “SANS Program – 2025 (Social Awareness & Action Plan to Neutralize Pneumonia Successfully)” undertaken by the state government under the auspices of the Medical and Health Department in East Godavari district were unveiled on Monday.

Medical officials said that ANM, ASHA, CHO will go door to door to survey the health condition of 1,27,074 children aged 0-5 years in the district. The Collector said that children with symptoms of pneumonia will be provided immediate treatment.

He explained that prevention of pneumonia is possible with measures like breastfeeding, nutrition, hygiene, and timely vaccination (PCV). He said that necessary medicines, oxygen concentrators, and nebulizers have been made available in PHCs and CHCs.

“Collector Kirti Chekuri informed that the skin disease caused by the bacteria Mycobacterium leprae can be completely cured. Those with unsightly spots, boils, and nerve problems on the skin should immediately contact the nearest PHC or CHC. Treatment and medicines are completely free in government hospitals,” he said.

The Collector said that the Leprosy Case Detection Campaign will be organized from November 17 to 30.
