State Civil Supplies Minister Shri Nadendla Manohar has suggested that this year’s grain procurement program should be carried out in a festive atmosphere without any difficulties for farmers.
A state-level workshop was held for officials under the chairmanship of the Minister at Hotel Vivanta in Vijayawada on Saturday. This workshop was jointly organized by Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Corporation and Civil Supplies Department.
Speaking, the Minister suggested that the problems identified at the field level during the procurement of grain last year should be resolved with advance plans this year.
He especially ordered that facilities like gunny bags, labor and transport should be prepared in advance. Joint Collectors should take the initiative to check middlemen in the supply of gunny bags, and a special SOP will be issued by the district police department in this regard.
The minister told the officials to implement the assurance given by the rice millers against PDS rice recycling. He directed that this issue should be clearly incorporated in the agreements. He said that priority should be given to rice mills that supply rice to FCI within 60 days.
He said that the grain procurement process will be monitored through real-time governance and every item will be available on the dashboard. He called on the officials to act transparently.
Recalling that 30,000 tarpaulins were distributed last year due to unseasonal rains, he suggested that tarpaulins be prepared in advance this time as well. Recalling the difficulties faced by farmers in selling grain under the previous government, he said that the current coalition government has given freedom to farmers through “farmer-friendly” policies. He said that farmers have been given the opportunity to sell grain to the mill of their choice and at the time of their choice.
Farmers were reminded that they have been provided with the facility to easily enter the grain sale process through WhatsApp and that cash was deposited in the farmers’ accounts within 24 to 48 hours of sale.
Civil Supplies Commissioner Saurabh Gaur, Civil Supplies Corporation VC & MD Delhi Rao, Agriculture Department MD Manjeer Jilani, Civil Supplies Corporation Director R. Govinda Rao, FCI GM Vijay Kumar Yadav, RTGS CEO addressed the workshop.
