Narasapuram DSP Dr. G. Sriveda stated today that four interstate cybercriminals have been arrested in a case where they intimidated the Mogalthur Sub-Registrar over the phone, impersonated ACB (Anti-Corruption Bureau) officials, and swindled Rs. 2,00,000/- from him.
On the 12th of this month, unknown individuals called Mr. Sabbithi Srinivas, who works as the Sub-Registrar in Mogalthur, threatened him, claiming to be calling from the Vijayawada ACB Head Office and warning that they would file criminal cases against him. Frightened by this, the complainant sent Rs. 2,00,000/- in installments to the PhonePe numbers provided by them. Later, realizing he had been cheated, the victim filed a complaint at the Mogalthur Police Station.
Following the orders of West Godavari District SP Mr. Adnan Nayeem Asmi, four special teams were formed under the supervision of Narasapuram DSP Ms.
G. Sriveda to crack the case. Based on bank transaction analysis and technical evidence, the police identified the accused and arrested them today at around 12:30 AM at the Vijayawada Railway Station parcel office.

They seized Rs. 85,000/- in cash, 5 keypad phones, and 4 smartphones from them. Police investigation revealed that the accused had provided their bank accounts to cybercriminals as “money mule” accounts and assisted in these frauds on a commission basis.
