An IndiGo flight carrying 144 citizens of Andhra Pradesh has successfully taken off from the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal, marking a major milestone in the Andhra Pradesh government’s rescue mission.

The plane, which had earlier reached Kathmandu from Delhi, is now en route to Visakhapatnam. After refueling, it will continue to Tirupati with the remaining passengers.

Out of the 144 passengers who boarded the plane, 104 passengers were to go to Visakhapatnam, while the remaining 40 passengers will travel till Tirupati.

The rescue operation is expected to bring relief to tourists and pilgrims from Andhra Pradesh, who were stranded in the turbulent country. Hon’ble Education & IT Minister Shri Nara Lokesh, who has been actively monitoring the situation since the moment the crisis broke out, has led these efforts.

Shri Lokesh personally coordinated with the Ministry of External Affairs, border states, AP Bhavan in New Delhi and ground teams to ensure the safe evacuation of all citizens. “Special thanks to the AP Bhavan authorities in Delhi for successfully coordinating the rescue mission,” he said.

Earlier today, Shri Lokesh held a detailed review meeting at the AP Secretariat (RTGS) along with Ministers Smt. Vangalapudi Anitha, Shri Kandula Durgesh and Shri Kondapalli Srinivas to review the relief arrangements. He said that the returnees are being warmly welcomed by local MLAs and public representatives at airports including Visakhapatnam and Tirupati and directed that they be ensured safe travel to their hometowns.

With the successful take-off of this flight, the Government of Andhra Pradesh reaffirms its commitment to safeguard the welfare of its people wherever they are.
