A 4-year-old boy died after falling into a pit in Srirampuram (Rajamundri Rural) village of East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, the rural police said. As soon as the matter came to light, District Collector Prashanthi met the victim’s family members at midnight yesterday.
According to the details given by the police,
In Srirampuram (H/O Diwan Cheruvu) village of Rajahmundry Rural mandal. A 6-foot pit dug for valve repairs at OHSR for water supply works entered the pit and a 4-year-old boy, Kadamanchi Srinu, who was playing there, accidentally fell into it and died, it was said.
Receiving information about the incident, District Collector P. Prashanthi immediately reached the spot and met the victim’s family. The boy’s father, Durga Prasad, belongs to the Beda Budaga Bujanga caste and lives as a daily wage labourer. The Collector assured the family members that steps will be taken to ensure that they get the necessary assistance from the government in the wake of this tragic incident.
Collector Prashanthi said that she visited Tahsildar’s place and submitted a detailed report on the incident. He said that the pit was dug on July 10 and the valve was sent to Rajamahendravaram for repairs. Tahsildar’s report stated that a four-and-a-half-year-old boy died after accidentally falling into the pit. Tahsildar said.
