District Principal Judge Smt. Gandham Sunitha stated that everyone seeking justice should consider the path of compromise, as it provides faster and less expensive justice.  She mentioned that this year’s fourth and final National Lok Adalat program is being conducted as per the orders of the Supreme Court.

She stated that a total of 46 benches have been set up in Rajahmundry, in the undivided East Godavari district, to provide legal services in today’s fourth National Lok Adalat.

She said that this Lok Adalat offers the opportunity to resolve negotiable civil and criminal cases, family disputes, check bounce cases, road accident compensation cases, bank cases, pre-litigation cases, and others.

She informed that in the previous three National Lok Adalats conducted this year, a total of 10,700 cases were resolved, and compensation of Rs. 100,99,11,504/- (One hundred crore ninety-nine lakh eleven thousand five hundred and four rupees) was paid to the beneficiaries.  Regarding the fourth National Lok Adalat, she stated that out of a total of 89,000 cases,approximately 69,000 cases were eligible for settlement, and so far, steps have been taken to resolve 18,000 cases through the Lok Adalat.

She further stated that in the four National Lok Adalats conducted in 2024, a total of 10,623 cases were resolved, including 2,131 civil cases, 7,796 compoundable criminal cases, and 696 pre-litigation cases.  Through these settlements, compensation amounts to Rs. 162,35,24,590/- (One hundred and sixty-two crore thirty-five lakh twenty-four thousand five hundred and ninety rupees) was disbursed.

She mentioned that 18,035 cases have been identified for settlement in this National Lok Adalat and urged all citizens to take advantage of this opportunity.

She explained that National Lok Adalats is conducted every three months under the supervision of the National Legal Services Authority, and the main objective of this program is to resolve pending court cases quickly, provide justice to people at a low cost, and bring an end to legal disputes through compromise. She also mentioned that awards were issued today for some of the resolved cases.

The event was attended by the 9th Additional District Judge, Ms. M. Madhuri, the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Ms. N. Srilakshmi, other judges on duty, the President of the Rajamahendravaram Bar Association, Shobhanadri Shastri, and others participated.
