Representatives of Seafood Industry Australia (SIA), the company’s CEO Veronica Papacosta and SIA Engagement Manager Jasmine Kelley met with State Education, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh in Parramatta near Sydney. Seafood Industry Australia (SIA) CEO Veronica Papacosta said… SIA, which started in 2017, has more than 30,000 members from the wild catch, aquaculture and seafood processing sectors in Australia.
She said her organization contributes AUD 3.5 billion worth of value to the Australian economy every year. She said that it works with government and research institutions to improve biosecurity and export performance.
Minister Nara Lokesh said… Andhra Pradesh is India’s leading exporter of marine products. AP accounts for over 60 percent of the country’s total aqua product exports, with 16.98 million tonnes of aqua products worth $7.4 billion (Rs. 66 thousand crores) exported from AP to foreign countries in 2024-25.
Undertake trade missions and networking programs to connect Andhra Pradesh marine product exporters with buyers in Australia and around the world. Facilitate partnerships between Andhra Pradesh aqua industry players and Australian importers to expand the Indian marine product market.
Introduce advanced technologies in processing, cold chain management and packaging to enhance the quality and shelf life of aqua products. Share expertise with AP Aqua Industry for sustainable aquaculture and fisheries management in Andhra Pradesh to reduce environmental impact and increase productivity.
Promote Andhra Pradesh seafood cuisine and undertake joint initiatives to attract culinary tourism. Minister Lokesh wants to work together on projects to increase the resilience of Andhra Pradesh seafood industry to face the effects of sea level rise and severe climate change
Minister Lokesh meets Parramatta Lord Mayor Martin Zeiter to support development of major cities in Andhra Pradesh
Australia (Sydney): State Education, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh had a courtesy call on Parramatta Lord Mayor Martin Zeiter, a key city in Greater Sydney. Minister Lokesh appreciated Zeiter’s efforts in growing local businesses in Parramatta, attracting investments and transforming it into a global city.
Jaiter, who has taken the initiative in developing public transport and green spaces, played a key role in the development of Parramatta Square. He has been actively participating in local governance and community development programs for the last 20 years.
