The literature of the great poet Padma Bhushan Dr. Boi Bhimanna is the literary reward of Ambedkar’s ideology, said the State Tourism, Culture and Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh.
On Friday, Minister Kandula Durgesh participated as the chief guest in the 114th birth anniversary celebration of Dr. Boi Bhimanna organized by the Andhra Pradesh Language and Culture Department at the Pingali Venkaiah Conference Hall of the Vijayawada Collectorate Office in NTR District. On this occasion, Boi Bhimanna’s wife and famous poet Haimavati was honored with a shawl.
He said that the story written by Boi Haimavati, from Paleru to Padma Shri, is still alive today. Minister Kandula Durgesh honored Dr. G.V. Poornachandu, the recipient of the 2025 Boi Bhimanna Award, with a shawl and presented him with a cash award of Rs. 2 lakhs.
On this occasion, Minister Durgesh unveiled the book Bhuvana Vijayam written by Dr. G.V. Poornachandu, which contains stories and tales of the Rayalan era, accepted it as a gift. On this occasion, Minister Kandula Durgesh explained the challenges faced by Boi Bhimanna regarding Dalit and human rights and his literary career.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Kandula Durgesh said that the trend created by Bhimanna through his writings to highlight the ills of the society is unique and unprecedented. He said that the only thing that is inherent in all his works is “unity of the Indian nation”. He said that this is the second time that he is participating in the birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Boi Bhimanna as a minister. He explained the need to make this generation aware of the uniqueness of people who seek the welfare of the society.
Minister Durgesh described Dr. Boi Bhimanna is a great poet and Padma Bhushan who has given the greatness of the Telugu nation and the glory of Telugu literature to all the people. He said that he is a person who used literature as a platform and advocated the eradication of caste. He praised Bhimanna as a great person who declared that his goal is to create an Indian nation free from caste, religious and class differences and dedicated his decades of literature.
The minister said that Boi Bhimanna was a great person who combined nationalism with Dalitism. He recalled that he thought of eliminating untouchability through his sharp writings and awakened the people.
He said that Boi Bhimanna had a wonderful idea through his writings called Janapaduni Jabulu. He said that his literature not only entertains people but also makes them think. He said that he is a great person who enriched Telugu literature by writing with social consciousness.
He said that the public awareness programs he did are worthy of imitation. He said that he got good results from society with his writings. He said that the song Jaya Jaya Ambedkar written by him has become the national anthem for Dalits. He suggested that we need to travel on his path, which has received many state and national awards.
