Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to provide skill training in the state with the main goal of creating 20 lakh jobs for the youth. He suggested that a study should be done on new courses to be introduced in higher education in line with the changes in technology. The CM conducted a review of the Skill Development Department at the Secretariat on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister ordered that job opportunities in the state, the country and the world should be identified using artificial intelligence and included in the skill portal. He also said that the youth should be registered in the skill portal so that they can get information about job opportunities from time to time. He said that the portal should be designed so that the youth’s resume is automatically generated as soon as they register their details. He said that an agreement has already been signed for investments worth Rs. 9.5 lakh crore in the state, which will provide jobs to 8.5 lakh people.
The Chief Minister clarified that skill training should be provided to the youth to enable them to secure jobs in line with these investments. He also said that the skills of students who have completed IT courses should also be assessed. The Chief Minister said that this would create an opportunity to identify the needs of the respective organizations and provide skilled human resources immediately.
He clarified that identifying skills and preparing them in advance will make it easier to get job opportunities. On the other hand, officials have already informed the Chief Minister about the details of the skill assessment that has been undertaken as a pilot project in Mangalagiri constituency.
The CM clarified that the youth of the state should be provided with skills in accordance with the Swarnandhra-2047 Vision plans. The CM suggested that focus should be placed on issues related to skill development from class 6 to post-graduation. He said that the youth should be given skills keeping in mind the next ten years.
He said that industries should be linked with educational institutions and action should be taken on skill training and certification issues. However, the Chief Minister clarified that the standards of skill development training should be ensured through the National Skill Credit Framework. The CM directed that the Academic Bank of Credits should be linked with Aadhaar and Apar IDs.
After the coalition government came to power, 1,164 job fairs were organized in 175 constituencies across the state, and 61,991 people have got jobs so far, Human Resource Development Minister Nara Lokesh told the Chief Minister. He also said that 74,834 people trained by the State Skill Development Organization have got placements. On the other hand, officials clarified that the skill portal is providing details of registrations, training, certification, placements, as well as linkages with industries and training in foreign languages.
Responding to this, the Chief Minister ordered that job fairs be organized to provide at least 1,500 jobs in each constituency this year. The CM also clarified that all industries should implement the apprenticeship system. He said that this system will help in acquiring skills in the field, not in the classroom. The CM stated that along with technical skills, soft skills are also necessary for the youth. He said that the courses should be widely publicized so that the rural youth know about skill training.
Minister Nara Lokesh informed the Chief Minister that skill development training is being conducted in clusters in the state. He revealed that activities are being taken to provide skills in five clusters in the state. He clarified that there are training opportunities in the fields of agriculture, textiles, food processing, quantum computing in the Krishna-Guntur cluster, green energy, drones, automobiles in the Anantapur-Kurnool and Kadapa clusters.
He said that there are industries in the Med Tech, Pharma, Engineering sectors in the Srikakulam-Visakhapatnam cluster, ports, granite, electronic manufacturing and other industries in the Chittoor, Nellore and Prakasam clusters. He explained that there are training opportunities related to aqua and petroleum industries in the East-West Godavari cluster. Minister Lokesh explained that AP is also working with the Tony Blair Foundation in skill training and job creation. He said that an agreement has been signed with industrial organizations to provide skill training to students in ITI and polytechnic.
The Chief Minister ordered that skill development should be prioritized and work towards providing global placement to the youth of AP. The CM suggested that foreign language skills should be improved to avail the vast opportunities in the healthcare, construction, tourism, IT, logistics and manufacturing sectors in different countries including Germany, Europe, Italy and Singapore. Offline and online alternatives should be examined to provide training in those languages. CM Chandrababu ordered that steps be taken to establish an English and Foreign Languages University.
