Legislative Council member Vanka Ravindranath today brought to the notice of the government that sand is being illegally mined and transported using JCBs despite the ban by the Green Tribunal. YSRCP Council candidate Vanka Ravindranath demanded that the Mining Department and Pollution Department monitor this issue and take strict action against those involved in illegal transport of sand.

In this state, in West Godavari district, Karugorumilli and Koderu villages in Achanta mandal, Nadidu in Penugonda mandal, and Siddhartha villages in Siddhartha were being transported illegally, Ravindranath said in the council meeting.

Ravindra brought to the attention of the council that sand mining in the coastal regulation zone (CRZ) has obstructed the flow of the Godavari river, weakened the embankment and threatened to submerge the surrounding villages during floods. The sand removed from here is being stored at 30 places and is being sold by illegal traders.

The state government, through the Ministry of Environment and Forests and Climate Change, has the responsibility to protect this environment, and the state government has not taken immediate action against the illegal traders, and the Ravindra coalition government has demanded that the village people and the environment be protected.
