On the other hand, officials informed the Chief Minister that the gates of Nagarjunasagar and Pulichintala upstream have also been lifted. The CM ordered immediate action to remove water from roads and low-lying areas in urban areas.

The CM ordered that the water coming from upstream should be diverted at the rate of four TMC per day and filled the Somashila and Kandaleru projects. The Chief Minister advised the officials to ensure efficient water management so that the flood water is not wasted and used properly.

He said that the rain that fell in the upstream areas including Mylavaram is reaching Budameru and Velagaleru in large quantities. He said that this water is being discharged into the Krishna River. He explained that the work on the Budameru diversion channel is also being completed on a war footing.
