A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Collector Kirti Chekuri, in the backdrop of the arrangements for Godavari Pushkaralu – 2027, with the participation of public representatives and officials of coordination departments. Collector Kirti Chekuri revealed on this occasion that full-fledged rational reports are being prepared from all the departments related to the arrangements for the Pushkaralu.

State Tourism Culture Cinematography Minister Kandula Durgesh said that a comprehensive review has been conducted on the advance arrangements for Godavari Pushkaralu – 2027 and the creation of necessary infrastructure for the devotees.

He said that preparations are being made on a large scale for the Pushkaralu to spread a spiritual atmosphere in both Godavari districts. He explained that coordination between departments is very crucial, and officials from all departments have already visited the field level and come forward with their expectations. The minister said that the state government has appointed senior IAS officer Veerapandian as a special officer for the management of the Pushkaras, and a cabinet sub-committee has also been formed.

He said that keeping in mind the huge influx of devotees coming for the Pushkaras, he is focusing on strengthening transportation and infrastructure.

He also said that the government is working to complete the prestigious Akhanda Godavari project by the time of Pushkaras and increase tourism opportunities for devotees. Railway officials suggested that the Nidadavolu railway station should be developed and special trains should be stopped in order to effectively deal with the congestion in the context of the Pushkaras.

MP Daggubati Purandhareshwari said that in the context of the Godavari Pushkaras, every issue was discussed in detail by departments. While nearly 5 crore devotees attended the 2015 Pushkaram, this time 7-8 crore devotees were expected to attend. Accordingly, there is a need to prepare special strategies in advance in terms of transport facilities, food, drinking water, sanitation, security, etc.

She said that as soon as the department-wise estimate reports are ready, they will be sent to the center through the state government and efforts will be made to obtain the necessary funds. In the context of the increasing crowd of devotees, he clarified that top priority will be given to issues like development of ghats, crowd management, and provision of temporary facilities.

District Collector Kirti Chekuri said that all departments should be instructed to review the 2015 Pushkaram reports and prepare the necessary proposals for the 2027 Pushkaram rationally based on them, and the respective departments have prepared proposals accordingly.

The Collector suggested that department-wise proposals, estimated costs, and Phase-1 / Phase-2 implementation plans should be submitted immediately. She said that there should be a traffic management parking system without any hindrance to the devotees. Public representatives said that special attention should be paid to the development of ghats, sewage drainage and strengthening of sanitation staff, following the suggestions.

Rajahmundry Municipal Commissioner Rahul Meena gave a comprehensive power point presentation on the activities undertaken during the 2015 Pushkaram and the development works to be undertaken this time. He specifically explained the expansion of ghat routes, congestion estimates, water quality, temporary parking, sanitation, mobile command control units, etc.
