Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed ministers and officials to continuously monitor the areas affected by Cyclone Montha. In Andhra Pradesh.
He advised them to be more vigilant in areas where there is a possibility of sudden overflowing of streams due to the impact of rain. On Tuesday, he reviewed the impact of Cyclone Montha from RTGS with Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan.
The CM ordered to take appropriate measures after assessing the damage caused by previous cyclones. Officials explained to the Chief Minister that Cyclone Montha is currently approaching the coastal Andhra coast.. and that it is likely to reach south of Kakinada by midnight and cross the coast.
The CM was informed that the intensity of rains and winds is currently high in coastal areas such as Kakinada, Machilipatnam, Visakhapatnam and other areas.
Responding to this, the CM ordered to send more rescue teams, NDRF and SDRF teams to the areas around Kakinada where the cyclone is likely to cross the coast. He suggested that machinery, communication equipment, emergency machinery and teams be set up accordingly after assessing the intensity of winds and rain.
How much area has been submerged due to the heavy rains that have been lashing different parts of the state for the past two days?… He ordered to assess which streams are at risk of overflowing and alert the people in the low-lying areas. He wanted to collect field-level information from the designated village ward secretariats and analyze it.
The CM reminded that in the past, people were brought back from the devastation caused by Cyclone Hudhud in four days. The CM ordered that the low-lying areas be alerted and the authorities be prepared as heavy rains have been recorded in the joint West Godavari district since Monday, and that there is a possibility of sudden flows from the upper reaches of the Red Canal in that area.
Officials explained that heavy rains have been recorded in Visakhapatnam, Konaseema, Srikakulam, Anakapalle, West Godavari, Nellore and other areas in the last 24 hours.
They said that information regarding heavy rain warnings has been sent to mobile phones of 1.92 crore people in the rain-affected districts due to the impact of Cyclone Montha. They told the CM that as a precautionary measure, 2,703 generators have also been set up in various areas. They explained that essential items have also been prepared secretariat-wise.
They said that the police department has set up a wireless system with 81 towers for communication in times of emergency. They explained to the CM that JCBs and machinery are also being monitored through an app. Responding to this, the CM suggested that the necessary fodder should also be kept ready for the cattle.
The CM ordered that the flooded areas, areas where trees, towers and hoardings have fallen should be identified through drones and immediate restoration measures should be taken. Officials said that 43 thousand hectares of crops have been submerged due to the impact of the rains so far. The CM was informed that crops have been submerged in Konaseema, Prakasam, Nandyal, Kadapa and East Godavari districts.
However, the Chief Minister suggested that changes be made to the app created by the Agriculture Department so that farmers can also send details of crop damage. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan instructed officials to ensure that if trees, electricity poles and roads are damaged due to the storm, there will be trouble in commuting between villages…
Minister Nara Lokesh explained to the CM that they are talking to the district collectors, SPs and field level machinery from time to time and that everyone is in the field. Since there is currently no rain in Rayalaseema, the CM instructed the Water Resources Department officials to take up the process of filling the tanks there with the Krishna flows coming from the upper reaches. The Chief Minister clarified that steps should be taken to fill the water without losing even a single TMC of water.
