The government has announced compensation to the families of the deceased in the firecracker explosion incident in Rayavaram, Ambedkar Konaseema district. In this regard, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has ordered the officials to give a compensation of Rs. 15 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

On Tuesday, officials Suresh Kumar and A.K. Ravi Krishna submitted an investigation report on the incident to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat. The officials explained to the CM that an investigation was conducted into the explosion incident as per the government’s orders.

Officials said that along with the firecracker manufacturing center, explosives were also stored there. The report stated that the explosion occurred when 14 workers were making these in the same shed at the same place. It was clarified that the fire broke out due to friction due to the use of iron tools in the manufacture of firecrackers. It was explained to the CM that the rules were not followed at all in this manufacturing center.

Monitoring of fireworks manufacturing through the control room

The Chief Minister has issued orders to the officials to take steps to prevent such accidents from happening in the future. Before giving licenses to the fireworks manufacturing centers, the officials have been advised to constantly check whether the rules are being followed or not.

He said that CCTV cameras should be installed at the manufacturing centers and continuous monitoring should be done through the control room. He also suggested that the details of purchases and manufacturing of the ingredients used in the manufacture of fireworks should be made online.

The CM made it clear that manufacturing centers that do not comply with the rules and those without authorization should not be allowed under any circumstances. He ordered that cases under the PD Act be filed and strict action should be taken if the rules are violated. The Chief Minister has advised that all the fireworks manufacturing centers should be in accordance with the rules and that personal insurance should be mandatory for those working in them. Home Minister Anita, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta and other high officials participated in this review.
