With Andhra Pradesh celebrating the Indrakiladri Dasara festival on such a grand scale, Vijayawada will now stand as one of the main Dasara festival destinations in the country, ahead of Kolkata and Mysore, said state Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. today.

The Chief Minister said that he prayed to Goddess Durga to make Andhra Pradesh a happy, healthy and prosperous state.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with wife Bhuvaneswari, offered silk robes to Sri Kanakadurgamma on the occasion of Moola Nakshatra today.

The goddess, adorned in the attire of Goddess Saraswati, blessed the devotees.  The temple priests and officials welcomed the Chief Minister and blessed him amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras and distributed prasadam. The devotees expressed happiness that they had a smooth and hassle-free darshan during the Chief Minister’s visit as there were no queues.

Chandrababu later expressed satisfaction over the arrangements. He said that special priorities have been given to general devotees by restricting VIP darshans this year. He said that surveillance has been increased with the use of technology. So far, eight lakh devotees have visited the temple and temple officials expect another eight lakh devotees to come during the festival.

Chandrababu announced that the Annaprasadam complex being built at a cost of ₹25 crore will be completed in six months, while a separate building for making prasadam at a cost of ₹27 crore will be ready in three months. In addition, he said that the elevated corridor up to the Maha Mandapam at a cost of ₹14 crore will be completed soon.

He said that all the reservoirs in Rastam were filled by the grace of God, and the Super Six programme undertaken by the NDA government was bringing significant benefits to the poor, while GST reforms were enabling greater savings and increasing the purchasing power of the common man. Referring to the success of

the Sthree Shakti scheme, he said that it had emerged as a major driver for women’s economic empowerment.

Endowments Minister Anam Ramnarayana, Minister Kollu Ravindra, Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath, District Collector G. Lakshmi Shah, Endowment Commissioner Ramachandra Mohan, Chairman and members of the Temple Trust Board welcomed the Chief Minister.
