State Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu has made it clear that the coalition government is giving equal priority to helping the displaced people related to the construction of the Polavaram project.
Rs. 1000 crores were distributed at the Nirasitula Sabha in Velerupadu, Eluru district on Saturday.
The minister said that he should express special thanks to Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Pawan Kalyan and Prime Minister Modi for providing compensation to all the displaced people related to the historical Polavaram project.
In 2016, Rs. 700 crores were distributed, 900 crores in January this year, and now 1000 crores are being deposited in your accounts for the second time. The coalition government, as soon as it came to power, started the construction of Polavaram and stood by all the displaced people who had given lands for the project.
The coalition government said that it would complete the relief, rehabilitation and construction of houses in the 41.15 meter contour under Phase 1 by June 2026.
It was announced that tenders for rehabilitation, construction of colonies and creation of infrastructure worth about Rs. 739 crore had been completed recently. He said that currently 49 out of 75 displaced colonies are under construction. He said that efforts are being made to create infrastructure facilities in parallel.
He said that the first phase of R&R will be completed by June 2026. He said that a special grievance cell is being set up to resolve the problems of the displaced people of Polavaram.
The minister instructed the officials to file non-bailable cases if there is a role of middlemen in the matter of land acquisition and compensation. He said that the coalition government is working with determination to complete the Polavaram project by December 2027.
