SIPB approves 31 projects worth Rs. 39,436 crore, providing employment opportunities to 1.11 lakh people

AMARAVATI: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to fully utilize the immense potential of the state in solar power generation, with special focus on developing Rayalaseema region as a major renewable energy hub.
The Chief Minister, who chaired the 16th State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meeting held at the Secretariat today, stressed the need to attract large-scale investments in solar power projects, especially in Rayalaseema districts. He directed the officials to plan and develop robust transmission infrastructure to enable power supply to other states in future.
The SIPB has approved 31 projects with a total investment of Rs. 39,436.84 crore in various sectors including industries, energy, IT, tourism and food processing. These are expected to generate 1,11,278 direct jobs.
The Chief Minister stressed on developing solar parks in Rayalaseema and attracting investments accordingly. He said that transmission lines should be strengthened to connect with the state and national grids, thereby facilitating inter-state power supply.
He said that he aims to make the state a key hub for consumer electronics manufacturing, focusing on areas like Sri City, Kopparthi and Anantapur. He stressed on setting up Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and strengthening the IT ecosystem.
SIPB has approved three companies in Amaravati Quantum Valley. It will also promote projects to produce value-added by-products like ethanol using agricultural, horticultural and aquaculture waste.
The Chief Minister called for modern safety norms to be followed in all sectors like pharma, steel, green energy and battery energy storage systems. He said that a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) will be formulated in line with the disaster management norms.
He said that the approved projects should be started expeditiously within the stipulated time frame and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) signed at the investors’ summits should be actively implemented. To promote the food processing industry and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), the SIPB has decided to expand food processing capacity in line with the increasing horticultural production, as well as provide better marketing support for crops like palm oil and cocoa.

The Chief Minister reiterated Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to be a leader in renewable energy, electronics manufacturing and sustainable industrial growth while ensuring the safety and timely execution of projects.
