The effective water management undertaken by the coalition government in the state is yielding positive results. CM Chandrababu has paid special attention to water management. Chandrababu continues to direct the irrigation officials on this issue. Time to time.

With the aim of capturing every drop of rain, the government has taken action to fill the reservoirs on one hand and provide water to the ayacut of all the river basins on the other. Accordingly, this time, all the reservoirs in the Krishna, Godavari, Vamsadhara and Penna river basins currently have 80 percent water reserves.

The major projects on the Krishna river, such as Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar and Puli Chintala projects, were filled last month. As the continuous flood flows from above continue, the water that has come is being sent down as it comes.  At the same time, the maximum amount of water from the respective projects is being diverted through various lifts and canals to other reservoirs, ponds and crops.

Due to the heavy flood in the Krishna in the month of July this year, a large amount of water is being diverted to the Seema area and filled in the projects. Currently, farmers have used 52 TMC of water for the ayacut in the Krishna Delta since June 1 this year.

With the efficient water management undertaken by the government, an additional 12 TMC has been used this time compared to the previous one. The flows coming from the upper reaches through the Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage in the Godavari Basin are being released into the sea as usual.

Since the beginning of the season for the cultivation of crops in the Godavari Delta, 70 TMC of water has been released to the ayacut.  In the Penna basin, 15 TMCs of water are stored in Veligodu, 56 TMCs in Somashila, and 31 TMCs in Kandaleru. The government has released 8 TMCs of water from the Gotta barrage in the Vamsadhara basin for the ayacut this season. Overall, 650 TMCs of water are stored in the main reservoirs as of August 24.

This year, 309 TMCs of water have been used for the ayacut needs in the Krishna, Godavari, and Vamsadhara basins so far. 70 TMCs of water have been released from the Sir Arthur Cotton Dhavaleswaram barrage, 52 TMCs from the Prakasam barrage, and 8 TMCs from Vamsadhara to the canals. 156 TMCs of water have been used so far this season through the Pothireddypadu, Handri Neeva, and Nagarjuna Sagar Right Canal.

This year, the Handri-Neeva main canal is providing irrigation water to lakhs of acres of land in the joint districts of Rayalaseema from the Mallya lift irrigation system. With the widening of the Handri-Neeva canals, Krishna waters are reaching the last areas of Chittoor district after traveling 738 km. Krishna waters have already reached the Kuppam branch canal.

After the coalition government came to power, the efficient water management and continuous monitoring undertaken for a year, along with the timely provision of irrigation water to the crops, are also filling the reservoirs with water as required for the coming period.

1969 TMCs of water flowed into the sea in this season alone

While making the most of the flood water as much as possible… A large amount of water has gone into the sea from various river basins. Our projects are filled with flood flows coming from the upstream states, and the remaining water is being released into the sea.

From Godavari, Krishna, Vamsadhara and Penna basins, more than 1969 TMC of water has entered the sea since June 1 this season. From Dhavaleswaram barrage, Godavari water has gone into the sea by 1483 TMC since June this year. From Prakasam barrage, 468 TMC of water has gone into the sea after the use of delta needs.

Also, in the Vamsadhara basin, more than 18 TMC has already been released into the sea during this monsoon season. Currently, 4.38 lakh cusecs of water is being released downstream from Srisailam, 3.38 lakh cusecs from Sagar and 2.72 lakh cusecs from Pulichintala. 18 thousand cusecs are being released to crop canals from Prakasam barrage.

Due to the flood coming from above, 3.42 lakh cusecs of water is being released into the sea.  Even though our reservoirs are filled during the floods from the upstream states ,a large amount of water is flowing into the sea. The government is planning to utilize the flood water through the interlinking of rivers.

The government is focusing on completing the projects under construction on priority basis and achieving maximum water utilization and taking up new projects.
