Andhra Pradesh TDP State President Palla Srinivas Rao stated that the Telugu Desam Party welcomes the Union Budget 2026. He said that this budget particularly reflects the areas of infrastructure development, technology-driven growth, and sustainable economic expansion.

He stated that this budget, crafted around the national goal of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, provides a stable policy roadmap that balances fiscal discipline with the imperatives of growth, and reflects the inclusive development approach that is central to the Chief Minister’s governance philosophy, with its emphasis on youth, women, farmers, MSMEs, and marginalized communities.

He further stated that it strengthens confidence in India’s journey towards becoming the world’s third-largest economy, while simultaneously laying durable foundations for future generations.  Highlighting the implications for Andhra Pradesh, he stated that the proposals for new freight corridors, expansion of inland waterways, and promotion of seaplane services, along with the allocation of ₹12.2 lakh crore for government capital expenditure, would significantly strengthen the state’s logistics ecosystem and port-based growth strategy.

He added that focusing on the Visakhapatnam-Kakinada port corridor aligns with Chandrababu’s long-term vision of positioning Andhra Pradesh as a crucial gateway for global and regional trade, especially with Southeast Asia.

The allocation of ₹3,320 crore for the Polavaram irrigation project underscores the central government’s recognition of the project’s strategic importance.

Identifying Andhra Pradesh as a rare earth minerals corridor is a strategically important decision. This move is expected to attract investments in mining, processing, research, and value addition, reducing India’s dependence on critical imports.

He said that the proposed establishment of three chemical parks and the emphasis on plug-and-play industrial infrastructure would further strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s manufacturing ecosystem.

The allocation of ₹40,000 crore for electronics components manufacturing and the implementation of Semiconductor India Mission 2.0 are expected to benefit established clusters like Sri City.  It was expressed that measures to promote the indigenous manufacturing of tunnel-boring machines and advanced firefighting equipment will enhance self-reliance in infrastructure development.

The ₹10,000 crore bio-pharma initiative will provide a new impetus to the Visakhapatnam pharma and life sciences sector, accelerating India’s efforts to become a global biologics hub.

Proposals to develop eco-friendly mountain circuits in the Araku Valley and bird-watching trails around Pulicat Lake reflect a shift towards sustainable tourism, balancing environmental preservation with job creation.

In the fisheries sector, the development of 500 reservoirs and strengthening of coastal value chains will further solidify Andhra Pradesh’s position as a leading seafood exporter in the country. High-value crop programs for coconut, cashew, and cocoa will contribute to income growth in coastal areas.

The ₹10,000 crore MSME Growth Fund will provide crucial support to small and medium-sized enterprises, which are vital for employment. The allocation of ₹5,000 crore per city over five years to urban economic zones in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities is expected to transform Vijayawada, Tirupati, and Visakhapatnam into regional growth centers.

It was noted that improved transfers to states and local bodies under the Finance Commission framework will strengthen district-level governance and disaster management capabilities.  He stated that the Union Budget 2026 is not merely a statement of accounts, but a policy document that will determine the economic direction of India.

Srinivasa Rao clarified that by focusing comprehensively on green energy, semiconductors, biopharma, artificial intelligence, data centers, tourism, and agriculture, this budget, under the leadership and long-term vision of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, will place Andhra Pradesh at the center of the country’s growth trajectory.
