Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu held a review with officials on the situation of heavy flows and floods coming from the upper reaches of the Godavari and Krishna rivers. The CM inquired about the latest situation through teleconference with CS K. Vijayanand, DGP Harish Kumar Gupta and other senior officials from Delhi.

Officials briefed the CM about the flood flows coming from the two rivers, submerged crops and residential complexes in many areas. Officials said that 5.20 lakh cusecs of water is being released from Srisailam, 4.32 lakh cusecs from Nagarjuna Sagar, 4.07 lakh cusecs from Pulichinta and 4.53 lakh cusecs from Prakasam barrage due to the flows coming from the upper reaches of the Krishna river.

The CM was informed that the Godavari River is also experiencing heavy flood flows and that 13,42,307 cusecs of water is currently being released downstream from the Dhavaleswaram barrage. Officials explained that due to the Godavari floods, traffic to Lanka villages and Polavaram flooded villages in the catchment area has come to a standstill.

The CM instructed the officials to make necessary arrangements in addition to alerting the people in these areas from time to time. The authorities were advised to take preventive measures rather than reacting after the problem arises. They said that people should be prepared in advance and should not face any problems. They said that accurate information should be continuously provided to the phones of the people of the respective areas on floods and heavy rains and that there should be no room for false propaganda.

The CM also reviewed the issue of availability and supply of fertilizers and pesticides in the state. It was advised that the authorities should work without the problem of fertilizer shortage. He ordered that strict action should be taken even if an artificial shortage of fertilizers is created or diverted.

The CM advised the Vigilance Department officials to be alert and ensure that fertilizers are not diverted and their prices do not increase. Wherever there is information about the problem of fertilizer shortage, it was made clear that the top officials from the state level to the field level should personally examine and solve the problems.

The CM also spoke to the officials about the ONGC gas pipe leak incident in the sea near Dhariyala Thippa in Tallarevu mandal of Kakinada district. Officials said that a huge fire broke out due to the gas leak at 1.30 am and the gas supply was stopped within an hour and a half and the leak was stopped. Officials explained to the Chief Minister that there was no loss of life or property in the incident. The CM ordered the officials to inspect the entire leaked pipe and take steps so that the people of the nearby villages do not become worried.
