Civil Supplies Department of Telangana held State Level Celebrations led by
Commissioner of Civil Supplies Sri.M.Stephen Raveendra, I.P.S., observing ‘The
National Consumer Day 2025’ which falls on 24TH December every year. The
awareness programs were held from 19-12-2025 to 23-12-2025 aimed to educate
citizen and students about their fundamental rights under the Consumer
Protection Act, 2019, while highlighting the importance of digital platforms in
resolving consumer disputes efficiently and swiftly.
As per the directions of Commissioner of Civil Supplies, the State Level
Celebration were organized by Chief Rational Officer along with the team i.e., The
District Civil Supply Officer Hyderabad and Assitant Civil Supply Officers
involving the Telangana State Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission
Hyderabad, Legal Metrology official, consumer voluntary organizations/
Consumer Activists.
As part of the initiative, essay writing and elocution competitions were held
at the High School and College levels on key themes: “Consumer Rights under
the Consumer Protection Act, 2019” for schools, and this year’s theme “Efficient
and Speedy Disposal through Digital Justice” for colleges. Competitions were
conducted in Telugu, English, and Urdu, with (366) students participating in
the essay contest and (76) in elocution.
Apart from Competitions, Awarness Programes were conducted at Babu
Jagjiwan Ram Degree College and University College of Law, Osmania
University with experts discussing consumer rights and digital justice.
The Celebrations were concluded with the prize distribution ceremony at Civil
Supplies Bhavan, presided over by the Commissioner of Civil Supplies and Exofficio Principal Secretary to Government who distributed awards, listened to the
winners on the given theme and congratulated all participants.
The students were acknowledged for their outstanding contribution in promoting
Consumer awarness. Cash prizes of Rs5000/- 3000/- & 2000/- along with
certificates, were distributed to (36) Winners who stood 1st,2nd & 3rd positions
respectively.
Key Objectives Achieved:
The National Consumer Day 2025 celebrations successfully:

  1. Raised Awareness: Educated students and the broader community about
    consumer rights and digital justice mechanisms
  2. Promoted Digital Solutions: Highlighted the importance of efficient and speedy
    dispute resolution through digital platforms
  3. Encouraged Youth Participation: Engaged over 400 students in meaningful
    discussions on consumer protection
  4. Recognized Excellence: Acknowledged and rewarded students demonstrating
    exceptional understanding of consumer rights.
